• One of rock'n'roll's great unsung regional heroes, Lindy Blaskey & the Lavells were the biggest and best band in New Mexico during the early to mid-1960s.
• Bobby Fuller may have been king of El Paso, but Lindy ruled the rest of the Southwest, and was a local rock pioneer, running his own label, production company and agency. However it's his band, the Lavells, that are the most fondly remembered, for packing out dancehalls, teenclubs and concert halls the length and breadth of the region with a gutsy, classically Southwestern brand of Fender-fuelled rock'n'roll.
• But far from Albuquerque nostalgia, the tough local hits the Lavells had, such as 'My Baby Done Left Me', 'You Ain't Tuff' and 'Wine Wine Wine' (the latter pre-dating Bobby Fuller's version), have become coveted collectors' items and there has long been demand for a comprehensive collection documenting the combo's recording career, finally satisfied with this rocking anthology.
• "Albuquerque's Finest" not only collects together all the issued 45s by the Lavells, as well as a couple of rare solo outings by Blaskey himself, but also a considerable swathe of previously unavailable material, highlighted by crazy instrumentals like 'Brass Tacks', wild covers like Lindy's take on 'Keep A-Knockin'', and later punky outings such as the outrageous 'Bucky Beaver'. The package is fully illustrated with items from Lindy's bulging scrapbooks, and finally chronicles an important figure in 1960s grass roots rock'n'roll.
