Formed in early 1976, Chelsea was one of the last original punk bands to
release a full length LP, the 1979 self titled (GET38) work of sheer
punk'n'roll', unfortunately just a bit out of time for the glory this band
deserved due to its fundamental role in the rise of punk rock. That's why
Alternative Hits, their second work originally released in 1980 on Step
Forward, must be considered a brilliant attempt by Chelsea's leader Gene
October to put together a reminder of what the band was by compiling their
first 6 singles in a collection that sounds more like a structured album for the
incredible energy it erupts on the listener than a compilation. Songs like "No Escape", "Urban Kids" and
"Decide" witness alone the strength and the honesty of this punk band.
