Mushroom is a new instrumental band that creates immediate transcendent music from mellotron, moog, and Rhodes piano, along with bass, drums, guitars and occasional sax and flute. Their music is rooted in the SpaceRock and KrautRock sounds of Can, Neu, Faust and Gong, to name a few, as well as in the experimental jazz fusion of Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Mushroom bring progressive and fusion music into the new millennium, with hints of electronica (although there are no samples, just classic vintage keyboards), and the result is music with both hypnotic grooves and ethereal overtones. A band that is definitely worth checking out! This FRUIT TREE vinyl reissue includes two bonus tracks not available on the CD version.
