2 in 1 CD First released in 1978 and 1980 respectively on the RCA record label, and now available for the first time as a 2 on 1 CD BGO release fully co-ordinated by Eddie Hardin who also wrote the sleevenotes for this reissue Axis Point comprised Eddie Hardin (ex-Spencer Davis Group) on keyboards, Charlie McCracken (ex-Rory Gallagher’s Taste) on bass, Charlie Whitney (ex-Family and Streetwalkers) on guitar and drummer Rob Townsend (ex-Family and now with The Blues Band) The first Axis Point album was recorded at Ian Gillan’s studio Kingsway Recorders, the birthplace of ‘Butterfly Ball’ and ‘Wizards Convention’. There was no real intention of touring, although the band did play live several times - once at Dingwalls in Camden Town, once at The Marquee, and a couple of times in Leicester The sales for the first album were good enough to inspire RCA to go for a second LP. This was recorded at Tittenhurst Park, formerly the home of John Lennon and, while Axis Point were there, owned by Ringo Starr. The band spent about 21/2 months there - it was a studio with accommodation, the whole house having been put at the disposal of the recording musicians. The parties held there became quite legendary in the area. Bob Tench came down to do a bit of vocal and extra guitar, and ended up staying for five weeks! Axis Point: TRACK LISTING: 1.
