Only the best musicians were good enough for Benny Goodman. Many of the vocalists who sang with him—Helen Forrest, Peggy Lee, Helen Ward—went on to successful solo careers, and we’ve been privileged to document some of these recordings on our 'Collectors’ Choice Music' label (see our 'Complete Helen Ward on Columbia' and 'Complete Helen Forrest with Benny Goodman' collections). But what about all the fine female vocalists that, for one reason or another, never attained wide stardom despite singing with Benny’s band?
