One of American's most popular teen idols of the late Fifties, Frankie Avalon was a singer and movie
actor who enjoyed more than a dozen Top 40 hits in the U.S. and around the world.
He started out as a boy trumpet player before becoming pop singer. The breakthrough came when
Avalon, born in Philadelphia in 1939, scored a Number 7 Billboard hit with 'DeDe Dinah' in 1958.
