Woolly Wolstenholme was the Mellotron and Keyboard genius of Barclay James Harvest from 1967 to 1979 and was responsible for the more epic and symphonic pieces recorded by the band. Upon leaving BJH in 1979 Woolly embarked on a solo career that saw an album release in 1980, “Maestoso”. Adopting this name for his new band, Woolly Wolstenholme embarked on the recording of a second solo album that was to have been called “Black Box”. Alas, the album never reached completion and no recordings saw the light of day for many years. Now, as a precursor to the release of a new studio album by Eclectic Discs in April 2004, Woolly Wolstenholme has compiled these recordings that were made for “Black Box”, together with three previously unreleased live recordings made in Vienna in 1981 with Maestoso. “Black Box Recovered” finishes with a taste of Woolly Wolstenholme’s new work with a studio demo of “Bootham Park Elegy”. This album is certain to appeal to legions of Barclay James Harvest fans to whom Woolly Wolstenholme was, and continues to be, an inspiration.Track Listing: Deceivers All, Has to be a Reason, Down the Line, All Get Burned; Too Much, Too Loud, Too Late; Even the Night, The Will to Fly, The Sunday Bells, OpenPreviously unreleased bonus tracks: Why Remain, Sail Away - Demo, A Prospect of Whitby - Demo, Patriots - Demo, Quiet Islands - Demo, American Excess - Live, Lives on the Line - Live, Deceivers All - Live, Bootham Park Elegy
