As the title suggests, Calypso A-La-Mode is a compilation of calypso music from Jamaica, Trinidad and the Bahamas, featuring classics from the 1950s and 60s by a slew of great Trinidadians like Lord Creator, Young Tiger, and Lord Kitchener, not to mention the "King of Calypso" Harry Belafonte, and leading Bahamian hotel band leaders Blind Blake and Freddie Munnings. It also features some of the more kitsch moments in calypso history with performances by actor Robert Mitchum, Josephine "Black Venus" Baker, and tracks like "Jump Up" and "Under The Mango Tree" from the soundtrack to the first James Bond film, Dr. No, set in Jamaica.
