Lbel: SCRATCH"
Originally released in 1984, Cindytalks debut album "Camouflage Heart" melded post-punk sensibility with early industrial / electronic music, and the dark wailing vocals of Gordon Sharp, an Edinburgh musician, (first in punk band, the Freeze, and also collaborating with This Mortal Coil). David Clancy, John Byrne, and Birthday Party member Mick Harvey also appear on the album. All tracks recorded at Gateway Studio in London in 1984, except "Everybody Is Christ," recorded in 1982. "Cindytalk don't deal in conventional forms. This is demanding music, yet infinitely reachable and rewarding. Perhaps the closest they come to something recognisable is on the short, lucid 'Under Glass' and 'Memories Of Skin And Snow', where the relentless, harsh rhythms they employ are faintly reminiscent of those used by the Birthday Party. But only faintly: Cindytalk, really, sound unlike anyone else I can imagine, offering real invention and ignoring old, oft-trodden paths." - Robin Gibson, Sounds"
