Ace presents a single-group set of doo wop delights from the King label.The Checkers were a splinter group from Billy Ward's Dominoes, built around Bill Brown and Charlie White (who would later go on to be an early member of the Drifters with another ex-Domino, Clyde McPhatter).To further reinforce the Drifters' connection, the Checkers' lead singer on many of these tracks is "Little" David Baughn, who replaced McPhatter in the Drifters when he was called up for military service.
