Evil Grave were among the most mysterious heavy rock bands to emerge from Malta during the early 1970s. Combining the crushing influence of Black Sabbath with progressive rock, psychedelic experimentation and subtle elements of traditional Maltese music, the band built a formidable local reputation and was repeatedly voted one of the island's finest live acts. Despite their popularity, they never released a record during their lifetime, and their music was thought to have been lost.
Released for the first time decades later, Death From Malta collects all known surviving recordings by the band. Compiled with the cooperation of original guitarist and songwriter John E. Zammit Pace after extensive research by Lee Dorrian, these archival recordings capture Evil Grave's unique blend of doom-laden riffs, progressive structures and occult atmosphere. While the demos retain their original lo-fi sound, they offer a fascinating glimpse into one of the most unusual and overlooked bands of the European underground rock scene.
