WELCOME TO LPCDREISSUES
CAN, is a German experimental/krautrock outfit formed in Cologne in 1968 by Holger Czukay, Irmin Schmidt, Michael Karoli, and Jaki Liebezeit. They broke ground with extended, improvisational grooves and adventurous tape editing—first with vocalist Malcolm Mooney, later with Damo Suzuki—shaping the sound of post-punk, electronic, and indie music.
Delay 1968 is collection of Can’s earliest studio sessions (1968–69) with Malcolm Mooney, originally intended for a scrapped debut called Prepare(d) to Meet Thy Pnoom. Released in 1981 on Spoon Records, it captures a raw, driving proto-Can style. Highlights include “Butterfly,” “Thief,” “Uphill,” and “Little Star of Bethlehem.”
