Deviled Ham’s I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night is a strange, compact piece of late-1960s American psychedelia, built from garage rock energy, cover versions, studio eccentricity and a taste for the theatrical. The album does not behave like a conventional psych LP: short, sharp tracks sit beside a long final suite that folds together familiar material with darker soundtrack-like textures, giving the record a curious and slightly disorienting character.
The group move through bluesy rock, fuzzed-up rhythm and blues and playful psychedelic touches, with the closing The Raven / I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night / Rosemary's Baby sequence pushing the album into more experimental territory. This Hifly Sound Anstalt digipak edition restores an unusual underground release whose charm lies precisely in its oddness: part garage record, part psych curiosity and part late-night collage.
