Although Waylon Jennings is best known for his "outlaw" years, thisalbum takes us back to Jennings' earliest recordings - before he (andWillie Nelson) began to rebel against the Nashville country establishment- in favour of sparser more bad boy image. Jennings owes his earlysuccess at least in part to Buddy Holly, who acted as his mentor up untilhis death and produced his very first single "Jole Blon" / "When SinStops" (included here). (Waylon was actually supposed to have been onthe plane that killed Holly, but gave up his seat at the last minute).
