Privately released on the legendary Le Kiosque D'Orphée label in a tiny edition of 100 copies and distributed mainly to friends and mail order, Eclipse was the 1977 debut album by french synthetist Didier Bocquet. Taking cues from the first wave of german "kosmische" sound-explorers (Klaus Schulze inmediately springs to mind) but adding that characteristic hexagonal 70's dark / loner touch, the album ranges from the dystopical urgency of the opening "1984" (think of Heldon, Lard Free, late Verto and the likes) to the slow-building title track or the drifting ambience of the two-part "Le Chemin Du Silence". A highly personal debut that displays a charming lo-fi, self produced vibe. Well deserved reissue of a really obscure album that should please fans of all things “kosmische” and synth music in general!
