After working in small groups with many of the funky organists and hot tenor players, and in the big band of Lloyd Price, Pat Martino made his debut as a leader with El Hombre. It began a series for Prestige that saw him evolve into one of the foremost modern guitarists. His relatively recent comeback from serious illness makes this inaugural LP all the more significant for the new audience that is just discovering this giant talent.
