Far From The Madding Crowd is the story of independent, beautiful and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan), who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching willfulness; Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood (Michael Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor. This timeless story of Bathsheba's choices and passions explores the nature of relationships and love - as well as the human ability to overcome hardships through resilience and perseverance.
The composer of the soundtrack, Craig Armstrong, is one of the most popular and in-demand composers/ arrangers/ performers in the film and music industry. His emotionally charged, distinctive and eloquent style of music has graced films such as Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge, Ray, Love Actually, Plunkett & Macleane, World Trade Center and Elizabeth: The Golden Age. For the biopic Ray, Armstrong was awarded a Grammy Award for Best Original Score in 2004.
In conjunction with his film scoring work, Craig Armstrong has also released several albums of original music - notable collaborations include Madonna, Bono and Massive Attack to name a few.
