This double CD anthology by Universe provides an overview of an artist who, over the years, has
become a true cult figure: Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Acclaimed as one of the greatest gospel singers
of her generation, Rosetta Tharpe also played amazingly unique electric guitar. She did not limit
herself to the spiritual, but often spilled over into blues and swing. Born in 1921 in Arkansas,
Tharpe continued to record through the 1960s, but her most interesting work dates back to the
'30s and '40s. This double CD contains all her best originals, remastered and with new artwork.
