RPM picks up on a successful series begun by the Connoisseur Collection and strikes home with the next two volumes, planned but never released.
The late Joe Tex was amongst the most popular Southern Soul artists of the mid-lae 60s. Equally at home with up-tempo songs and even disco, Joe's major successes came with a series of 'preaching' deep soul singles that espoused the down home values of life in America's Deep South. This series reissues all the Tex LP's on CD for the first time and will contain all his US and international hits, plus bonus tracks, recorded for Dial records until his death in 1982.
Vol. 4 moves into 1969 with two more album also sold through Atlantic, Happy Soul and Buying A Book. Both albums were entirely written by Tex and whilst the performances are exemplary Tex soul they do offer a different perspective.
Both packages come with extensive liner notes from Clive Richardson and fold out poster inlays with rare photos.
