To mark six decades of George Clinton electrifying audiences around the world, Charly have relaunched the Funkadelic catalogue with richly presented, newly mastered editions—many of them pressed as limited-run colour vinyl LPs.

Hardcore Jollies was Funkadelic’s ninth studio album and their first release for Warner Bros. Records. Issued in October 1976 and dedicated to “the guitar players of the world,” it underscored the band’s reputation as the fiercest black rock outfit since Jimi Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys—complete with Buddy Miles appearing on one track.

Peaking at No. 12 on the US R&B chart, the album produced the singles “Comin’ Round The Mountain” (US R&B No. 54) and “Smokey” (US R&B No. 96), along with a live reworking of 1973’s “Cosmic Slop” from the album of the same name.

More than 45 years on, Hardcore Jollies is widely regarded as one of the finest records in the Funkadelic/George Clinton canon—an enduring showcase of their fearless creativity and unmistakable musical vision.
