Barney Kessel, live from Hoboken, New Jersey, 1980
In his 20s, this relentlessly inventive guitarist was topping magazine polls and recording with Charlie Parker, Oscar Peterson and others. He went on to become one of America's top session guitarists, as well as making albums under his own name and touring widely, both on his own and with other renowned guitarists.
The superb performance here at Hoboken in 1980, was broadcast on WBGO-FM radio and finds him playing alongside the great Herb Ellis.
