Born in Mississippi in 1929, J.B. Lenoir learned to play the guitar at a very young age. Influenced by bluesmen like Blind Lemon Jefferson, Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup, Lightning Hopkins and his friend Big Bill Broonzy, one of his first hits was the the song "The Mojo", recorded in 1953 for the then active label JOB. This marked the beginning of a long relationship between Lenoir and JOB, for whom he released many singles. Unfortunately, in 1967 Lenoir died in a tragic accident. He was only 38 years old. Recently celebrated in Wim Wenders "The Soul Of A Man", a film dedicated to the great men of delta blues.
