Following on from our CD reissues of Southern soul giant Luther Ingram's complete Ko Ko singles, here's the first ever CD reissue of his first two albums for that label, dating from 1972.
These two date from 1972. Between them they contain all of his biggest hits for Ko Ko, as well as a number of tracks that only ever appeared originally on the albums. Many people know the song '(If Loving You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right' through the interpretations of others such as Rod Stewart and Millie Jackson. Luther Ingram also had a #1 R&B / #2 Pop hit with his version, the first issued and the best.
Recorded in Muscle Shoals and Memphis and featuring - on a generous number of tracks - the musicianship of Isaac Hayes' band the Movement, this offers a wonderful representation of Southern Soul's golden era and throws the spotlight on one of the finest singers of both his genre and generation.
Copious notes and generous illustration make this a must for all fans of quality soul music.
