German psychedelic underground trio in sixties - seventies vein 'ala' May Blitz - Hendrix - Trower

Fantasyy Factoryy is the Pseudonym of guitarist/singer/songwriter Alan Tepper, somebody with good connections because he was able to record his debut album in London's Sun Dial studios with Gary Ramon behind the mixing desk. lt took him three days to record "Ode To Life" with the help of Tom Schrnitz (bass) and Mr. C. Marihuana (drurm). The music of Fantasyy Factoryy is best described as being deeply rooted in the German psychedelic Krautrock Tradition with Hendrix-like guitar play on "Watching You" and "See You, See Me" , eerie vibes in "Spooky", a gentle folk interval in "A Rainbow in the West" and the over 14 minutes long "King, Poet and Magician" in which more room is left for improvisation and a guitar solo. Gary Ramon mixed this album perfectly and added his personal touch to it in the form of various vocal and instrumental distortions. "Ode To Life" a fantastic 70s Krautrock album made in the nineties. Alan Tepper selected a different backing group to record "Tales To Tell": Karl Watson on bass and Dr. Cosmo Spheren on drums. Never mind, the result is just as beautiful as on his debut album and 1 think that his second effort is an even better exercise in 70s Krautrock atmospheres: "Out of the Maze" restores the almost forgotten wah-wah guitar solo Tradition, "Gypsy Lover" rocks furiously on distorted guitar riffs and flute play, "New Dawn" is an over 15 minutes long piece of floating, Floydish psychedelia, while "Season of Sorcery" and "Secret Garden" set the tone for a few folky trips into the scented hippie gardens of paradise, spacier than "Ode To Life". Anyway, both albums figure among the best Gerrnan psychedelic reieases I've heard the past few years. Very recornmended stuff (the lemmings are back indeed!). (CROHINGA WELL)
