Popol Vuh was a German electronic and progressive rock band founded by Florian Fricke in 1970. They were pioneers of ambient, krautrock, and world music, known for their spiritual and atmospheric sound, often blending synthesizers, acoustic instruments, and choral elements. The band is also famous for composing soundtracks for Werner Herzog’s films, such as Aguirre, the Wrath of God.

In Den Gärten Pharaos (1971) is their second album, marking a transition from pure electronic experimentation to a more organic, meditative style. The album consists of two long, immersive tracks:

"In den Gärten Pharaos" – A mix of Moog synthesizers, water sounds, and exotic percussive elements, creating a mystical, otherworldly atmosphere. "Vuh" – A deep, ritualistic piece recorded in a cathedral, featuring an organ and gong-like sounds that evoke a sense of transcendence. This album is considered a landmark in ambient and cosmic music, bridging electronic soundscapes with spiritual and acoustic elements.
