Indian Summer’s only album belongs to that short but remarkable moment when British progressive rock was still closely tied to the weight and atmosphere of the late-1960s underground. The music is built around warm organ tones, fluid guitar lines and Bob Jackson’s expressive vocals, with each piece unfolding at a patient, deliberate pace. Rather than chasing complexity for its own sake, the band create tension through mood, dynamics and carefully shaped arrangements.

Originally released in 1971 on the Neon label, Indian Summer has the feel of a record made by musicians listening closely to one another. The songs move between heavy passages, reflective melodies and spacious instrumental sections, giving the album a distinctive character within the UK progressive scene. This Eclipse Records edition adds five bonus tracks, expanding the picture of a band whose brief existence produced one of the more atmospheric and rewarding albums of the period.
