Certainly, Portland's most adored punk ensemble, the Wipers, came together in the late 1970s, and by 1980, they unveiled their inaugural LP, 'Is This Real?'—a collection of twelve songs characterized by piercing, jittery guitar riffs, sharp vocals, and unapologetic teenage angst. Brimming with desperation and longing, this album has endured as a paradigm for disaffected youth for more than 25 years. In the early 1990s, 'Is This Real?' garnered widespread attention when Nirvana covered two tracks from the record, with Kurt Cobain citing it as a primary influence on his band.
Remastered from the original tapes provided by Greg Sage himself, the LP is meticulously pressed onto audiophile-grade vinyl and presented in a deluxe tip-on sleeve. Accompanied by a printed insert that faithfully reproduces the original innersleeve, Jackpot Records' reissue of 'Is This Real?' serves as a lavish homage to one of the most exceptional recordings of the past three decades.
