Knock On Wood is the debut album of Soul singer/song-writer Eddie Floyd, released in 1967 on Stax Records. The album was recorded in 1966 at the famous Stax Recording Studio in Memphis, featuring its house band Booker T. & The MG's, augmented with Soul celebrity Isaac Hayes on piano and Wayne Jackson on trumpet.
Knock On Wood is one of Eddie Floyd's best albums. The Soul shouter successfully embraced sleeker Northern Soul on other projects, but here he sticks to the type of raw, hard-edged Memphis Soul that Stax was first known for.
The album features the most well-known single, "Knock On Wood". This song was a number one R&B hit. This release illustrates the splendor of down-home Southern R&B.
