One of the pioneering names of the American neo-psychedelic underground, United States Of Existence unexpectedly return with Lavender Glory Trip, a full-length album that reconnects the musicians with the colourful '60s-inspired sound they first explored during the late 1970s and '80s.

The project began when drummer Gary Schwartz came across an unfinished composition from the band's past. Revisiting the material gradually opened the door to a much larger idea, with former members once again contributing to the music despite being geographically scattered. Remote recording made the reunion possible, but the resulting album retains the playful, handmade quality that characterised their early work.

Lavender Glory Trip moves freely through psychedelic pop, sunshine pop, baroque arrangements and more experimental territory. Mellotron, sitar, fuzz guitar and fuzz bass sit alongside layered harmonies and unexpected studio textures, giving the album a deliberately kaleidoscopic feel rather than simply recreating the band's vintage sound.

Some pieces grew from fragments and ideas dating back to earlier periods, while others were developed specifically for these sessions. That combination gives the record an unusual sense of continuity: familiar psychedelic ingredients are present throughout, but they are rearranged with the freedom of musicians returning to the style many years later without trying to reproduce their younger selves exactly.

Tracks such as Gory Glory Hallelujah, We Love The Sun and Lavender lean into colourful psych-pop, while the second side becomes increasingly atmospheric and reflective through Without Within, The Noise Of Living and Sleeping Beauty Revisited. The result is a genuine continuation of the United States Of Existence story rather than a nostalgia exercise: melodic, eccentric and unmistakably psychedelic.
