This album is one of several examples on Riverside of the amazingly multifaceted musical personality of Milt Jackson. Without even taking into consideration the other, more intricate and restrained side that emerges when he functions as part of the Modern Jazz Quartet, one should take note of Jackson in front of a large orchestra, in collaboration with guitarist Wes Montgomery--and in the soulful blues-and-ballads context of the “live” recording heard here.
