It was 35 years ago that the promoter of Long Island’s Malibu Beach nightclub booked Joan Marie Larkin to play his club. Joan Jett had returned from her British excursion from two years earlier where she’d based herself since The Runaways’ split. Armed and dangerous with LA punks The Blackhearts, Jett ripped up the airwaves with her own brand of sexed up vitriolic rock ‘n’ roll.

Joan Jett and The Blackhearts’ appearance at Long Island’s legendary Malibu Beach Club captures Jett at the highpoint of her career, in between her 1980 solo debut and the upcoming I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll, the album that would establish her as a rock star.
