LPCDreissues: Looking forward to the past

Originally released in 1976, Maledetti is the last studio album recorded by Area with Demetrio Stratos, and is considered the tombstone of the original line-up. Starting now the band became an open group, joined for the occasion by Steve Lacy and Paul Lytton. Their classic Jazz Rock style that during the years has become their musical trademark, began to be contaminated by different musical styles (Eastern sounds, classical orchestrations), while still being radical and original and still well rooted in avant-garde. After this album their music partially lost its subversive energy, and the importance of Maledetti, along with being a very good album, is being the epitaph of the first period of the band. From now on, without Demetrio, things won't be the same.
