The English punk rock band Toy Dolls released their single hit Nellie the Elephant in 1982. The song is written as a children's song in 1956 by Ralph Butler and Peter Hart. Nellie the Elephant is all about an intelligent elephant who goes her own way. The Toy Dolls version is much sharper and focused on the humoristic side of music. It's the fun they put in their music were they shifting away from the angry lyrics in most punk songs of that time.
Toy Dolls were formed in 1979 in Sunderland, England. Their albums includes cover versions of famous hits, supplemented with own material. Their songs consist of catchy guitar riffs and humoristic texts. Even after almost 40 years they still perform and recording songs.
