Bassist Eldee Young and drummer Isaac "Red" Holt spent the 1960s as Ramsey Lewis's rhythm section. By the time they recorded this soul jazz/instrumental groove classic in 1972, Young & Holt developed a solid funk/soul-jazz vibe similar to Curtis Mayfield's early '70s sound. Percussionist Ralph McDonald and keyboardists Richard Tee and Bobby Lyle set the foundation for this seriously funky session. Includes new detailed liner notes by original producer Michael Cuscuna and Monk of Wax Poetics magazine.
