It’s no secret that ’60s folk rock is one of our favorite genres, and we’ve got the reissues (Beau Brummels, Fred Neil, Dillards) to prove it. This, in turn, has sparked a lot of feedback from friends, customers and collectors about who else to reissue, and Jim & Jean are easily at the top of the list. Jim Glover was an old bandmate of Phil Ochs in the early ’60s who hooked up romantically and artistically with Jean Ray, forming a husband-and-wife duo somewhat reminiscent of Ian & Sylvia except a little poppier and a little rockier ('People World', in particular, has some psychedelic rock flourishes). We’ve squeezed the two albums they recorded for the Verve Forecast label onto one CD and added notes by the guy who wrote the book on folk rock, Richie Unterberger. A 'Collectors’ Choice Music' exclusive, due out July 27! Includes from 'Changes—Loneliness; Tonight I Need Your Lovin’; It’s Really Real; Grand Hotel; Crucifixion; Changes; Flower Lady; About My Love; Strangers in a Strange Land; One Sure Thing', and 'Lay Down Your Weary Tune'. From 'People World—Topanga Road; Success; What's That Got to Do with Me?; Get Out of My Mind; Ringing of Revolution; Hanoi Hoe-Down; The Planet June; Playground; Time Goes Backwards; Sweet Water; Cross My Heart', and 'People World'.
