In this well-loved session recorded in NYC between December 12 and 29, 1952, a young Stan Getz can be heard leading one of his finest quintets. Although only 25 years old at the time, Getz was already a giant of the jazz world, with many of the tracks from this album—including "These Foolish Things", "Stella by Starlight" and "Thanks For The Memory", featuring the great Jimmy Raney on guitar—becoming major hits. Getz would go on to even greater fame in the mid-sixties with his Grammy Award winning version of "The Girl From Ipanema". The first four tracks on the B side are taken from the Dec 19 session and are bonus tracks.
