Using John Cage’s slogan “New Music: New Listening” as its mantra, Polyphonix 1 is a compilation of 27 poets from both Europe and the United States, collected at poetry festivals held during 1979 to 1981. Artists include Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Allen Ginsberg, John Giorno, Julien Blaine, François Dufrene, Bernard Heidsieck and Jean-Jacques Lebel, etc. Originally released as a co-production of Cramps Records, John Giorno’s “Giorno Poetry Systems” and Association Polyphonix.
