What an historic album "Psychillis Of A Lunatic Genius" (1973) is ! PAZOP is a Belgian super-group that included Polish violinist Jan Jakub "KUBA" SZCZEPANSKI, drummer Jacky MAUER (Both of WALLACE CONNECTION), keyboardist Frank WUYTS and flautist-singer Dirk BOGAERT (Both of WATERLOO). Patrick COGNEAUX, former ARKHAM (The Belgian SOFT MACHINE) bass player, completed the line-up. The band recorded two albums, but both stayed unreleased due to contractual problems. Twenty-three years after, the Musea label reissued three-quarters of the two opuses recorded. It contains the only true music PAZOP displayed, a band essentially known for its commercial singles. This complex music is full of rhythm and tempos changes, built on the rhythmical and solo roles of violin, organ and flute. PAZOP is close to a mix of EAST OF EDEN, SOFT MACHINE, Frank ZAPPA, MOVING GELATINE PLATES, JETHRO TULL and VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR. Recommended for those who enjoy this kind of music !
