Like a lot of late-’60s rockers, husband-and-wife team of Jim Post and Cathy Conn
came out of the folk scene (the Chicago folk scene, in this case) to score on the
charts with this album’s title cut, which was adopted as something of an anthem
by the protest movement during what was indeed a “dark” time for American politics.
The resulting album, which featured the instrumental and production talents
of Joe South and Ray Stevens among others, is an utterly charming blend of ‘60s
pop-rock, soul and psychedelia, long requested by our customers and reissued here
with notes containing extensive quotes from Jim Post himself! Includes Boston Is a
Lovely Town; I’m a Woman, I’m a Man; Zig-Zag; Saturday’s Hero; Room to Let (to
Rowena with Love); Reach Out of the Darkness; A Wise Man Changes His Mind; Ode
to a Dandelion; If Love Is in Your Heart; The Weddin’ March (I Feel Groovy), and The
Way We Were in the Beginning.
