James Gang Rides Again is the second studio album by James Gang, presented here as a limited 140-gram gatefold edition. Recorded at The Record Plant in Los Angeles in November 1969 and released in 1970, the album captures the band at a key point in their development, with their hard rock sound becoming broader, sharper and more adventurous.
This was the first James Gang LP to feature bassist Dale Peters, joining drummer Jim Fox and guitarist, keyboardist and vocalist Joe Walsh, who would later become a member of The Eagles. The addition of keyboards on selected tracks gave the group’s heavy blues-rock approach a richer and more varied character.
Featuring the classic hit Funk #49, along with standout tracks such as Woman, The Bomber, Tend My Garden and Ashes The Rain And I, the album remains one of the definitive early showcases of Joe Walsh’s guitar style and James Gang’s powerful trio sound.
