SQUARE was founded in the early Eighties in the suburbs of Paris. As their live performance were very succesful, the French musicians had no problem to sign a deal with the Devil's Records label. Even if the name sounds English, "Rock Stars" (1985) shows a melodic hard-rock music sung in French. Its influences are rooted in American and German heavy-metal much more than in IRON MAIDEN, even if the New Wave Of British Heavy-Metal had also left its mark ! Both powerful and delightful, Guy HOC's voice has put its imprint on the French Eighties heavy-metal scene. As it appeared that another band had used the name SQUARE since, the Brennus reissue chose to switch to STILL SQUARE. Besides the eight original titles, one can now hear four unreleased bonus-tracks from before and after the album's release. Not to be missed !
