Country-rock fans have long been hungerin' for the reissue of the two albums by American Flyer, the mid-'70s supergroup that wasn't. With Doug Yule (Velvet Underground), Eric Kaz (Blues Magoos), Craig Fuller (Pure Prairie League) and Steve Katz (Blues Project, Blood, Sweat & Tears) in the line-up, the pedigree was there; add George Martin's production to their debut album, and success a la CSN&Y or the Eagles would seem a cinch. But for some reason, American Flyer never did take flight, and the band broke up in the late '70s, leaving behind these two very fine and collectible albums, to which we've added Richie Unterberger's excellent liner notes.
