LPCDreissues: Looking forward to the past

Sammy never strayed too far from Broadway; he found the book of Broadway show tunes to be a never-ending source of inspiration throughout his career. And he certainly was inspired on this album by the contemporary flare that arranger Claus Ogerman gave some of these songs, particularly 'The Joker; A Room Without Windows', and 'Hello Dolly' (this is not your father’s Sammy Davis Jr. album)! But there’s plenty of “old school” Broadway balladeering here, too: 'A Married Man; Take the Moment; I Want to Be with You; The Other Half of Me; A Wonderful Day Like Today; Look at That Face; People; Sunrise, Sunset', and 'Do I Hear a Waltz'. #104 on the 1965 charts
