Label: Flawed Gems
Samuel Prody’s only album is a compact but forceful example of early-1970s British heavy rock, built around thick guitar tones, direct rhythms and a rough psychedelic edge. The band keep the songs relatively short, but the performances have enough weight and atmosphere to place the record firmly among the more interesting hard rock obscurities of the period.
Rather than drifting into long progressive passages, Samuel Prody focus on tight, blues-rooted material with a darker underground feel. Tracks such as Woman, Time Is All Mine and Hallucination show the group at their strongest, combining muscular playing with a raw, slightly unpolished energy that gives the album much of its charm. This Flawed Gems edition brings back a record that has long appealed to collectors of British heavy psych and proto-hard rock.
