Side Effect the 1975 debut LP from the group featured Sylvia Nabors, while “What You Need” from 1976 replaced her with Helen LaRue Lowe on lead vocals. Side Effect’s shifting line-up didn’t detract from their sophisticated jazz-imbued sound, that transcends the disco market at which it was aimed. Their biggest hit (of nine on the R&B chart) was ’Keep That Same Old Feeling’ from the second LP and featured Wayne Henderson of the Crusaders, who also wrote the song.
