One of the 20th century's most gifted songwriters and a figure as symbolic of Brazil as Gershwin is of America or as Lennon & McCartney are of Britain, Tom Jobim wrote OThe Girl from Ipanema¹ and pioneered bossa nova; his seductive melodies and sophisticated harmonies eventually placed him among the ten most recorded popular composers of all time.
Included here are the original 'Sinfonia do Rio de Janeiro' in its entirety and Jobim's first hit composition 'Teresa da Praia' ('Teresa of the Beach') so memorably performed by Dick Farney and Lúcio Alves.
