Having recorded an album of traditional folk and country tunes, "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us," some five years back, the Everlys were no strangers to country music, and in fact there was a country strain to just about everything they ever did. So the idea of doing an album of then-contemporary country hits suited them just fine, and, boy, did they take to it, doing great versions of "Oh, Lonesome Me," "Born to Lose," "Just One Time," "Send Me the Pillow You Dream On," "Release Me," "Please Help Me, I’m Fallin’ (in Love with You)," "I Walk the Line," "Lonely Street," "Silver Threads and Golden Needles," "I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry," "Sweet Dreams," and "This Is the Last Song I’m Ever Going to Sing." This 1963 release is one of the most overlooked albums in the Everlys’ catalog—first time on CD!
