Siren is the fifth studio album by British art-rock legends Roxy Music, originally released in 1975. One of the band's most acclaimed and immediately accessible records, it combines the adventurous sophistication of their earlier work with a tighter, more rhythmic and increasingly dance-oriented sound.
The album opens with Love Is The Drug, one of Roxy Music's defining songs, driven by John Gustafson's prowling bass line, Paul Thompson's precise rhythm and Bryan Ferry's stylish, decadent vocal. The song became one of the band's biggest international hits and remains a classic of 1970s art rock.
Elsewhere, Both Ends Burning pushes the group toward an urgent, propulsive dance-rock sound, while tracks such as Sentimental Fool, Whirlwind, Nightingale and the dramatic closing Just Another High demonstrate the extraordinary range of a band at the peak of its original mid-'70s period.
Featuring Bryan Ferry, Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera and Paul Thompson, Siren balances sophisticated songwriting, experimental textures, glam-rock elegance and powerful rhythmic playing. The iconic sleeve features model Jerry Hall, who would become closely associated with the album's visual identity.
This 2022 edition is pressed on heavyweight 180 gram vinyl. The album was remastered and cut at half speed from the original quarter-inch analogue tapes at Abbey Road Studios, London, with revised artwork presented in a gloss laminated sleeve.
