WELCOME TO LPCDREISSUES
Originally released on the avant-garde jazz label Black Saint in 1987, this is Anthony Braxton's incredible tribute to Thelonious Monk. But what makes this album more that just a tribute is the way Braxton interperates these Monk standards, using them as a springboard of for his own radical musical exploration. With the help of pianist Mal Waldron, bassist Buell Neidlinger, and drummer Bill Osborne, Braxton moves forward at high speed, swaying and lurching his way through six Monk tunes: "Brilliant Corners," "Reflections," "Played Twice," "Four in One," "Ask Me Now," and "Skippy."
