Transcending the language barrier, The Ventures created a brilliant new sound that encapsulated the modernism of the early sixties, selling over 40 million albums in Japan alone, outselling the Beatles by two to one. Formed in Seattle in 1959, The Ventures are the most successful instrumental group of all time having sold over 90 million records. Much of the band's success was based on their recording of highly stylised instrumental versions of contemporary pop and 'Sixties Guitar Party' showcases that aspect of their work; focussing on their interpretation both of psychedelic classics such as “Light My Fire”, “Strawberry Fields Forever”, and “Eight Miles High” and on some of the most memorable international hits of the era including “I'm A Believer”, “Groovin'”, “Windy”, “Sugar Sugar”, and “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”.
